The intention of this posting was to write up a short paragraph expressing the objective of this thesis and I don’t know why I’m having such a difficult time writing this up. For the past two days, I’ve been going back and forth, cutting and pasting the same words, and at the same time clicking the undo button. There are perhaps more than 20 different revisions tracked on Wordpress for this post alone! So to rewrite the intent, here’s an updated version.

With social network sites (Facebook/Twitter/Flickr/YouTube etc.) providing a constant open network and easy access to our social life online, we’ve become more open with our opinions and daily life, providing details in both small and large, and exposing them to the outside world. In response to the open communication in the online world, the goal here is to propose an adaptation of that online lifestyle to our living environment. Based on that, it is not possible to think of our modern dwelling merely by terms of public and private division as the wall between them are crumbling down in smaller pieces. Consequently, our modern dwelling becomes a public space.

Are we living in a voyeuristic time? Perhaps more so than ever.
